Yellow spoon, Yoghurt, Yum!

Scrappersatsg Challenge # 18
"Yum"

My first stab at a 2-page layout. I love Hambly and felt stickers! =) I never really thought I could use it nicely on a page.

These pictures of Jillian were taken on a hot saturday. She was more makulit than usual and I thought she'd like a cool treat (yoghurt). She liked it so much (especially when she was using her own spoon) and she left quite a mess.

I found these rub-ons (Kaiser) in Laines and thought they'd make nice embellishments. I'd love to use them on all my pages now (even if it's just to put my name on my work too)!

Vek's Little Girl

Yes, I've been a busy scrapper this month (even if it was toxic at work!). But it was only today that I've been able to sit down and actually post the pics (and yes, ramble a bit).

I've had this picture of Tyra ever since I helped my dear friend Vek make her first birthday invites, which was about last month. And I think this was one of the layouts I made while de-stressing late at night. I'm so, so happy Vek liked it! I was afraid she might think it was too cluttered. =)

I'm not entirely sure if this is an experimental piece or not (as I'm getting bored with my usual style - linear and balanced with flowers and flourish). I guess it's a hybrid of the cluttered style and my usual.
Speaking of "the usual", hubby J can't keep from commenting that I need to do something about the white space (duh, nothing!). Why is it men (or at least some of them) can't seem to get over the white space?

First "boy" layout

Scrappersatsg Challenge #16
"Annoyed"

Another first! Yup, my first try at making a "boy" layout (nope, my husband's layout doesn't count). I initially thought I'd be doing something similar on our anniversary scrapmeet but I didn't get to pick a boy's photo. I'd brought along paper of brown, blue and orange hues, but come to think of it, I think I managed to bring all colors which was actually a very good thing.

What I also like about this layout is that the orange "lace cardstock" at the bottom left and the orange circles at the top right were actually left over from the invitations I made for Tyra. The moment I saw them come out from the cutter I knew I'd be using them somewhere... and voila! I've also been dying to use the epoxy alpha stickers for a long time and when I brought them out to try them on this layout they fit quite well.

In the nick of time...

I almost didn't get to send this entry to Andros' challenge. Good thing I checked the website and confirmed that the due date is tomorrow - May 2 (at 11:59 PM).

Scrappersatsg Challenge # 16
"CNY"

This is my first stab at the "cluttered" style and experimenting on lace cardstock. This is also the first layout I've done with so much stuff:

Cardstock - "Apples Lucky" lace cardstock, Die Cuts with a View White
Patterned Paper - My Mind's Eye "Mon Cherie" and "Memories", Quilted "Baby" flat paper
Cosmo Cricket, Fontwerks cardstock stickers, Bo Bunny "Double Dot" chipboard alpha, Me & My Big Ideas "Soft Spoken" embellishments, Black Glitter chipboard alpha, Red felt flowers and button, Red & green Stickles, Black crystals, Label maker, Maya Road chipboard

The most unique technique I've done here is the photo mounting (which was actually accidental). I originally made the rectangular scalloped edges and later thought of making the bracket edge. I was going to throw the scalloped cuttings out but then liked the effect with the new edge so I retained it. Also, the extra white around the photo makes it stand out from the overwhelming green and red of the papers. The red flowers on the left were added as well to balance out the whole layout (I didn't have that in my original design).

The main sketch for this was inspired by a Tourism Singapore ad (from the back of the front passenger seat of a taxi cab). It's a pretty simple Chinese-looking style with a large circle and 3 small circles on each of the 4 corners.

May day and sunshine...

Scrappersatsg Challenge # 16
"My Yellow Balloon" (by CJ)

I think I'm having withdrawal syndrome from the scrapmeet. I can't stop scrapping. =) I'm currently working on Chinqui's 2 pics of Andrei and I want to finish by tomorrow so I can give at least one finished LO. I also need to give the LO I did of Madeth's friend's daughter (Kristen?).

But my current fave is definitely CJ's "My Yellow Balloon". It's sooo great!!! I can't stop looking at it from time to time to get inspiration. =D

Scrappersatsg Challenge # 16
"Umbrella"

I had a great time working on this layout except that I keep thinking it's too simple. I really like the picture (great smile and uber cute little girl!) and love the lady bugs but I keep wanting to put a few other elements in somewhere like maybe a line or two of Rihanna's "umbrella". TFL!

Lucky Number 7

How Much Is Too Much Challenge # 77
"Sweetly"

In a bid to update my 2peas account, I've decided to join one of the challenges. The thread's by Debbie T (here) and it's part of her challenge blog site "How Much Is Too Much". The objective of the site is to urge you to use your stash. This challenge was no exception because it pushes you to use the ff.:

1. 7 letters in the title
2. 7 flowers
3. 7 buttons
4. 7 brads
5. 7 labels
6. 7 word stickers
7. 7 of anything else (I opted to use 7 kinds of rub-ons)

Hence my layout "Sweetly". I finally got to use my Scenic Route stickers and the epoxy stickers from my KI Memories "It's a Girl" kit which I bought last year. I totally used up the mini labels! But only made a dent on my brad and button supplies. Some of the rub-ons I used here were yellowing at the edges so I really have to use them again soon.

My goal is to use most of my stash by mid-year so I have an excuse to replenish. Hahaha!

In Focus

Scrappersatsg March scrapmeet
"FOCUS"

The second (ever) layout featuring my husband. I should make more of them but he's picky with the designs (no flowers, butterflies, or anything "girly"; swirls, and even cyrstals are okay though). I made this during the first meet for Scrappersatsg. I met with the girls and had an absolute blast.

The chipboard alphas were a great find (for me, at least, since I don't really get up-to-date with new products). They come with a sander so you can opt for a distressed look.

{Create} March 2008
"Miss Independent"

I intended to enter this LO to the Feb Scrappersatsg challenge (love song title) but I wasn't really sure if "Miss Independent" (by Kelly Clarkson) was a love song. I usually have a hard time thinking of a design but this wasn't the case here since I already had the colors and the title in mind. For the {Create} challenge, I only had to add the numbers and voila. I'm so into Luxe rub-ons and crystals right now that I can't stop using them (see the same 3 circle of crystals in "Focus"?). I also put the journalling in circular chipboard/paper cut-outs somewhere on the page. I guess it's just a phase.

Tis the season...

Nope, it's not Christmas. But I'm counting down the days til' Easter.

I remember when we were kids and we'd hunt for Easter eggs. We made them out of real egg shells (there were very small holes where we siphoned out the yolk and eggwhite) which we painted/magic-markered. Mom and dad would then squeeze folded bills into the very small holes (which would pretty much make them into "large gaping holes") and hide them early on Easter morning.

It was so exciting looking for them (and finding out how much money we got, natch!). There was even a golden egg which was worth a whopping 50 pesos. Mom would always tell "bunso" (not me!) where most of the good eggs were. The neighbors (and passers-by) would scratch their heads wondering what we were looking for in the bushes and hedges in our garden so early in the morning. Lovely memories...

Scrappersatsg Challenge # 14

"Happy Hunting"

Whee! I'm hosting this month's challenge! And keeping up with the theme of "Easter", I went with an Easter egg hunting challenge. Actually, it was also my hubby's idea. =P He wanted a gimmick that was both connected with Easter and something new. I mostly liked the idea of hiding something somewhere in the layout and asking someone else to find it... hee hee.
